Insulating Concrete Formwork

Insulating Concrete Formwork or ICF is a building system based on large, hollow, lightweight polystyrene forms that interlock together without glue or mortar to provide a formwork system into which concrete is poured.

Once set, the concrete becomes a high strength, air-tight structure. The polystyrene remains in place as insulation, and is clad outside and inside with the chosen finishes.

Applications

AMVIC Insulating Concrete Formwork can be used on almost any type of project, including :-

  • Houses (including low and passive energy design)
  • Basements and Garden Rooms
  • Extensions
  • Apartments
  • Large buildings (schools, offices, hotels)
  • Swimming pools

The Benefits of ICF

The AMVIC ICF system can be built to U-Values ranging from 0.24 W/m²K down to as low as 0.11 W/m²K. Combine that with extremely high levels of air-tightness and thermal mass and the AMVIC ICF becomes the perfect choice for building sustainable, low / zero energy homes.

AMVIC homes are very quiet to live in, they cost less to heat (or keep cool), and can be built to almost any design conceivable.
